Working with TYPO3 in Thailand
There is a great interest for Joomla - but not for TYPO3
Joomla is worldwide - but TYPO3 is only Northern Europe
So why work with TYPO3 in South-East-Asia?
Good questions, indeed. Thanks you for asking them.
Why is Joomla widely spread in SEA? Because there are so many ready-to-use designs available, for free.
Get me right, I am
not saying that Joomla (or any other CMS) is not useful. Each and every CMS is useful for the target audience and for the challenges it was designed for. Most of them offer some easy ways to set up websites in a couple of hours. But when it comes to "real" programming, one will run out of wizards pretty soon. There is almost no limit what you can do with TYPO3: You only need to program it, or expand one the over 3000 already available (for free) extensions. Anything goes...
Nowadays webdesign is not only a matter of a nice and fancy design with shiny images, shadows and flash objects. It is a matter of accessibility and usability. Websites are not only viewed with graphical browsers, but with mobile phones, PDAs and lots of others. Font sizes must be able to be enlarged (without breaking the layout of course) for people with visual defects. Search engines must be able to find the information provided in a semantical correct way, otherwise it will not consider the page as relevant for a specific search term, and thats what it is all about - being found by customers.
Free templates for TYPO3? We provide them.
A template engine for TYPO3? Stay tuned.
There is a market for TYPO3 in Asia and everywhere in the world. Let's start spreading the word and prove that TYPO3 is able to do one thing:
Make better and more accessible websites. My own employees are the best promotion: They all had to do with Joomla or other CMS in some way or the other. But as soon as they realized what TYPO3 can do, they keep telling me that TYPO3 is the number one CMS in the world.

I am not saying that TYPO3 is easy to learn. Its learning curve is rather steep. But it is possible to create easy to use templates for TYPO3 where all adjustments are pre-configured and the user can focus on his content. And that is exactly the reason why we are here.
Kind regards, Dieter
